Please welcome a new member of staff to the RIS team. Miss Tamiza Tudor will be working in primary with our year 3 and 4 pupils. Miss Tudor is originally from London, and has prior experience of working in a bi-lingual environment, having taught at Hampton Court House; a renowned French and English bilingual school in Surrey. Miss Tudor has a passion for languages and graduated from University College London with a first class honours degree in French and German. UCL is one of the top universities in the world and to graduate from there with a first is quite an achievement! A fresh face to Moscow, Miss Tudor is looking forward to using her enthusiasm, hard work and experience to help support the development of children.

  • Could you recommend a book that everyone should read?

One of my all time favourite novels is Honoré de Balzac’s Cousine Bette. It focuses on two women, Cousin Bette and Valérie Marneffe, who after being betrayed by Bette’s family, plot their revenge.  It is a bleak outlook on human behaviour, however, provides a brilliant snapshot into life in 19th-century Paris and contains many intriguing plot twists. Other books I would recommend to pupils include: Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Zola’s Thérèse Raquin, Schlink’s Der Vorleser, Shelley’s Frankenstein, Brecht’s Der gute Mensch von Sezuan, and Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own. These works problematise how we deal with history as well as the status quo and will help children to think critically and reflectively about their surroundings.

  • Describe an event that changed your life?

I’ve got to say the event that changed me as a person was moving abroad for the first time. I had travelled extensively before but had never lived outside of the UK until I spent two months in Berlin one summer. This put me in good stead for moving to Paris and Vienna before my final relocation to Moscow. I haven’t looked back since.

  • What else can you teach pupils in addition to the school programme?

I can share my stories of life in the British capital and my travels abroad, as well as my experience of dealing with people from all walks of life.
