RIS EVENTS REVIEW: MAY

The month of history and law at the Russian International School is now over. Throughout the month, interesting activities were held for our pupils, aimed at stimulating their interest in the history, historical events, the development of international law, an introduction to politics and, of course, to deepen their knowledge and broaden their horizons.

In addition, most of the activities, apart from their academic aspect, were aimed at fostering self-discipline, responsibility and independent thinking in the children. All project activities of the thematic month are aimed at developing the students' analytical skills, teaching them to make their own decisions, to prove their point of view and to apply their knowledge in real life.

 

Traditionally, let us summarise the results and tell you about the most interesting events of the month:

 

Interactive quiz on the myths of Ancient Greece

And this themed month at RIS started with the history of Ancient Greece. Students took part in an intellectual quiz game "Your game. Myths of Ancient Greece". During the quiz children were divided into 3 teams and chose categories of questions. Together with the teachers they recalled the characters of Ancient Greek mythology, attributes of the gods, winged expressions and other interesting facts from the history of Ancient Greece.

 

Excursion to the Patriot park

Students of RIS have visited military-patriotic park "Patriot", where they learnt about the great military past of our Motherland and saw the legendary armoured vehicles of the Great Patriotic War.

 

Meeting with a researcher from the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The students of the Russian International School visited a meeting with Sergey Vepretsky, a researcher of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a specialist in the culture and script of the ancient Maya. During the conversation Sergey told the students about the modern methods and innovative approaches to studying the written cultures of pre-Columbian America.

 

Ancient World" costume contest

The young participants took into account all the details and did a great job on their costumes, to make them look as similar to the real heroes of the Ancient World as possible. Pupils not only designed and decorated their costumes, but also prepared interesting presentations about the Ancient World, which they presented to the audience and jury.

 

Presentation of projects "History of Law"

A conference was held for students of the Russian International School, where students defended their projects on the history of law. During the conference the students spoke about the emergence and peculiarities of Roman law, the development of democracy in Scandinavian countries, and Russian law and its origins.
